Should I file an insurance claim for hail damage?
That decision is between you and your insurance agent, and Minnesota law doesn't allow a roofing contractor to make it for you. What helps most is knowing the facts first: a free inspection with photos shows whether there is storm damage, how much and where, before you pick up the phone.

What should I know before I call my insurance company?
- The storm date. Our Storm History lists NOAA hail reports by city.
- Whether there is actual damage, with photos of each area.
- Your policy's deductible type (flat dollar or percentage) and whether it pays replacement cost or actual cash value. Your agent can confirm both.
- Your policy's rules for reporting damage and its deadline to bring suit. Many Minnesota policies now give only one year from the storm date for hail.
