Do I need a water softener in the Twin Cities?
Many Twin Cities homes have hard water, especially suburbs and rural homes on groundwater or private wells. If you see white scale on faucets and shower glass, spotty dishes, stiff laundry or a water heater that's losing efficiency, a free water test will tell you your hardness and whether a softener makes sense.
Is Minneapolis or St. Paul water hard?
Both cities treat and partially soften their water, so it's moderately hard. Many suburban cities and private wells have harder water. Your test results show your exact hardness in grains per gallon.
What's the difference between a water softener and a water filter?
A softener removes hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) that cause scale. A filter reduces things like chlorine, taste and odor, sediment, and, with the right media, some contaminants. Many homes benefit from both, which is why we test first.
Is the water test really free?
Yes. We test your water in your home at no cost and walk you through the results. You're never obligated to buy anything.
Can a system remove lead or PFAS?
Some filtration systems are certified to reduce specific contaminants like lead or certain PFAS. We'll only recommend equipment certified for what your results show, and we'll tell you if a lab test is a better next step.
What warranty do you offer?
Equipment is covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and Repair King backs its installation with a 2-year workmanship warranty.
In-home tests are screening tests. For health-related contaminants such as lead or PFAS, we may recommend a certified laboratory test. Equipment performance varies by model and water conditions.
