For Minnesota insurance agents

A roofer who'll tell your client when not to file.

Repair King inspects your clients' roofs, photographs everything, and tells them straight what we found, including “there's nothing here.” We're a licensed Minnesota contractor since 2009. We don't adjust claims, and we don't push anyone to file.

Sound familiar?

What's my client going to get into with a roofer after a storm?

Here's what agents tell us goes wrong, and what we do instead.

What you've seen
What Repair King does
A claim on every roof on the block
Your client gets an honest answer first, even when that answer is “don't bother.”
A storm chaser signed them before they called you
Local since 2009. We ask your client to talk to you before any claim decision.
Photos that prove nothing
Dated, labeled photos of every finding, wide and close, in one report.
The roofer stopped answering
One point of contact, texts at every step, and you in the loop if your client says yes.
Your client felt pushed
No pressure, no “sign today.” The owner decides every next step.

We qualify first

Will you really tell my client not to file?

Yes. Every inspection ends in one of three answers, and two of them don't involve an insurance company at all.

Answer 1No damageWe say so, with photos. No claim, no sales pitch, no second visit.Nothing to file
Answer 2Minor. Live with itNormal wear or a loose shingle. We price a small repair, or tell them to keep an eye on it.Owner pays small, or waits
Answer 3Storm-type damage documentedFull photo report. We suggest they talk to you. Filing is their decision.Time to call their agent
7years

That's how long a claim can follow a home.

Home claims can show up on a C.L.U.E. loss-history report for up to seven years. Qualifying first means your client doesn't add a claim for a roof that didn't need one.

Documentation

What will the report actually show?

Something your client can understand and an adjuster can follow.

  • Wide shot of each slope, then close-ups of every hit
  • Hits chalk-marked and measured; test squares where it matters
  • Gutters, vents, siding and soft metals checked too
  • Wear and old damage labeled as wear, not storm
1InspectHands-on, roof to gutters.
2DocumentDated photos, every finding labeled.
3Explain optionsPlain English. Including “nothing here.”
4Complete workOnly what the owner approves.
What agents get

What's in it for me and my agency?

No cash, no kickbacks. Just things that make you look good to your book.

A photo report you can readFindings by slope, measured and dated. Your client can forward it to you or anyone they choose.
A fast call backYour client talks to a real person, not a voicemail box, and gets a time on the calendar.
No surprisesWith your client's OK we text you the milestones: inspected, report sent, work scheduled, done.
Names that go both waysWhen our homeowners ask who to talk to about coverage, we like having an agent we trust. With their OK, we'll pass your name along.
Storm alerts for your areaWhen 1″+ hail is reported in the towns you write, we send you a heads-up with the date and size.
A lunch-and-learn for your office30 minutes, lunch on us: what real hail and wind damage look like on a Minnesota roof, with our photos.

Sending a client

How do I send someone over without making it weird?

Three steps. Your client stays your client the whole time.

You send the addressCall or text us your client's name, address and number, with their OK.“I know a roofer who'll tell you the truth, even if it's nothing.”
We call, inspect, photographYour client gets a time on the calendar, a hands-on inspection and every finding photographed.
They get answers, you get updatesYour client gets the report. If they say yes, you get a short status text at each step.
Where we draw the line

Is this going to get me in trouble with a carrier?

We stay in our lane on purpose. Here's the line, in writing.

What we do

  • Inspect the roof and exterior, hands-on
  • Document with dated, labeled photos
  • Explain what we see in plain English
  • Give an itemized, good-faith estimate
  • Do the work the owner approves

What we never do

  • Act as a public adjuster or adjust claims
  • Negotiate with the insurance company
  • Interpret policies or say what's covered
  • Pay or waive deductibles, or reward anyone for filing
  • Pay agents referral fees

Minnesota law bars residential contractors from paying deductibles, compensating an insured for inspections, claims or referrals, interpreting policy provisions, or adjusting claims without a public adjuster license. Minn. Stat. § 325E.66.

Questions

What do agents ask us first?

Will Repair King tell my client to file a claim?

No. We tell your client what we found: no damage, minor wear, or storm-type damage, with photos. Whether to call the insurance company is the owner's decision, and we encourage them to talk to you first. We don't interpret policies or say what's covered.

Do you negotiate with the insurance company or act as a public adjuster?

No. Repair King is a contractor, not a public adjuster. We inspect, document, explain what we see and give an itemized estimate. If the homeowner asks, we can be on site to show the adjuster what we documented. We don't negotiate claims (Minn. Stat. § 325E.66).

Do you pay referral fees to insurance agents?

No. We don't pay agents for referrals, and we never pay or waive deductibles or offer homeowners anything to file a claim or let us inspect. What we offer agents is service: honest answers for your clients, clean photo reports, storm alerts for your area and a lunch-and-learn for your office.

Will you take over my client relationship?

No. You stay their insurance person. We handle the physical property work the owner hires us for, and we only share status updates with you when your client says it's OK.

Can I send a client who doesn't have a claim?

Yes. Leaks, repairs, maintenance, second opinions, roof age questions and full replacements are all welcome. Most of what we do has nothing to do with insurance.

How fast do you respond after a storm?

We call your client back to set a time, usually within the same business day. For active leaks we offer emergency tarping. After big storms, calendars fill up, which is why the storm alerts help your clients get on the list early.

What areas do you cover?

The Twin Cities metro and communities across Minnesota. Repair King has worked out of St. Paul since 2009 and is licensed in Minnesota (BC695228).
