Wayzata
Wayzata takes its name from the Dakota word wazíyata, "north shore," and has been Lake Minnetonka's main gateway since the railroad reached town in 1867. Estate-sized homes near the water mix 1980s cedar exteriors with newer construction cut into steep hips, dormers and multiple chimneys. Our most recent Wayzata job was a full tear-off on a Hunter Drive estate, where a crane lifted bundles straight to the ridge instead of hand-carrying them up four stories of roofline.

Settled in 1853 by a group from upstate New York, Excelsior was Lake Minnetonka's first white settlement and later hosted the Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones at the old Danceland ballroom. Homes near the historic downtown carry steep, tightly valleyed roofs from the resort era, while newer lake homes run bigger and flatter. Our Excelsior crew worked a White Dove Drive property through a winter re-roof, clearing snow off the old shingles before starting tear-off.
