NOAA storm reports put 1.25-inch hail near our Apple Valley job sites on August 15, 2025, and the largest hail reported here since 2015 - 1.75 inches - fell on July 3, 2023. Damaging wind has followed a similar pattern, with a 64 mph gust on August 27, 2022, and 58 mph gusts on both July 14 and August 27, 2024. The City of Apple Valley separates roofing permits into two types: a roof repair permit for 500 square feet or less, and a roof replacement permit for anything larger. Repair King pulls the correct one under our Minnesota contractor license (BC695228) through the city's online ePermits system.
Apple Valley's code requires an ice barrier - two layers of felt cemented together or a self-adhering polymer-modified bitumen sheet - running from the eave to at least 24 inches inside the exterior wall line, and the city requires photos of the ice barrier on site before it's covered. We photograph it as a standard part of every re-roof, city requirement or not.
